Good
This was a good apple pie, but not at the level I expected with the price. The good: The crust was nice and thick with a nice buttery flavor. The caramel topping was a bit smokey and reminded me of caramel apples at the fair. The care taken in shipping and packaging is next level. Styrofoam plus dry ice! And tightly packed. I was initially concerned about freshness since I live in an area with high temps. The cons: The Granny Smith apples lacked the expected tartness from fresh apples and the consistency was disappointing and just mushy. The cinnamon wasn't noticeable and the added sugar paired with the caramel was a bit overwhelming. It lacked the essential balance of tart and sweet. The $79.99 price tag was not earned for the quality. I've had some amazing apple pies that were half the cost, so maybe my expectations were too high. This is the basis of my 3 star review.
